Music Learning Objectives Poster | "I Can" Statements for Band or Orchestra

My learning objectives are the old MENC national standards. I find the objectives very similar to the new NAfME standards while being easier to understand. I still use the new objectives when I have to submit an assessment, but having this poster satisfies the requirement while being evaluated.

I can:

• Sing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
• Perform on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
• Improvise melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
• Compose and arrange music within specified guidelines.
• Read and notate music.
• Understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
• Understand music in relation to history and culture.
